Vigan Cityhood

Image
Vigan is located in the province of Ilocos Sur, on the western coast of Luzon, facing the South China Sea. It is known for its old streets designed with cobblestones, Spanish-era houses, and traditional horse-drawn carriages called k alesas . Vigan is accessible from nearby provinces and serves as a historical and cultural center in the region. Its location made it an important area for trade and governance during the Spanish colonial period.                Vigan has a long history that began as a trading post for Chinese, Indian, and Malay merchants. It grew in importance when the Spaniards arrived in the 16th century and made it one of their key settlements in the north. It was originally called "Ciudad Fernandina" in honor of King Ferdinand of Spain. Over time, Vigan became a municipality under the Philippine government. On January 22, 2001, Vigan officially became a city t...

Past, Present, Perfect.......?

A Holiday to Remember Past, Present, Perfect......? They would always say, practice makes perfect. But then again, nobody is perfect, so why practice? Ems  In Filipino culture, it's natural that we reflect our past intentions and set our future goals. The so-called concept of '' Flawless New Year, New Me'' is not realistically attainable because perfection does not exist.  I repeat, perfection does not exist.  Perfection may not exist , but it is approached whenever we put growth and consistent effort to improve ourselves. No one is perfect, but we can work towards becoming the best version of ourselves through self-awareness and determination. This year, my focus is on several key areas of personal development. First, I aim to build my confidence. Confidence is the foundation of how much work and trust we build in ourselves. I believe that by gradually stepping outside of my comfort zone, I hope to develop a ...

A Holiday to Remember

A Holiday to Remember A Holiday to Remember The holidays are always a special time for me, especially because of the meaningful experiences and treasured moments I shared with my family. This year, the season was particularly memorable as it became a time for giving back, traveling, and celebrating together. ⋆⁺₊❅⋆ ⁺₊❆⋆ We started the holidays by preparing donations for typhoon victims. Seeing the devastation caused by the typhoon on the news moved us to act. My family and I worked together to collect clothes, canned goods, and other essentials to send to the affected communities. It felt heartwarming to know that, in some small way, we could bring comfort to those in need during such a challenging time. Afterward, we visited the Santiago Cove Hotels. The trip was a much-needed escape, and the view of the blue waters was breathtaking. We spent hours walking along the beach and admiring t...

Beyond Transformations                This quarter, I discovered how to create websites using basic HTML codes. I learned how to structure webpages by using elements like headings, paragraphs, images, and links. These skills gave me a deeper appreciation for how websites are built and how each element contributes to the overall functionality of a webpage. Through hands-on activities, I realized the importance of accuracy and attention to detail when writing codes, as even a small mistake can affect the entire output. It was fascinating to see how a series of codes could transform into something visual and interactive on the web.                One of the challenges I faced was managing my time and retaining the new concepts I learned. With multiple subjects, school projects, and personal responsibilities, balancing everything felt overwhelming. There were instances when I co...

For Dignity and Equity · · ─────── ·๐–ฅธ· ─────── · ·                                     Violence Against Women (VAW) remains a serious issue worldwide, including in the Philippines. Data from the 2022 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) shows that nearly 1 in 5 Filipino women have experienced emotional, physical, or sexual violence from their intimate partners. This highlights the urgent need for effective laws and initiatives to protect women from abuse.           The Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004, or Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9262, is a key law addressing this issue. It defines and penalizes various forms of abuse, including physical, sexual, psychological, and economic violence. The law provides women and children with legal remedies, such as protectio...
