            During the coronation night of Miss Ilocos Sur, a candidate was asked, “How does the Kannawidan Festival affect tourism and benefit the people of Ilocos Sur?” With confidence, she answered that the festival showcases the province’s rich culture, attracting tourists and boosting local businesses. Her response influenced many as her statement captured the very essence of Kannawidan Festival. 

               Indeed, the candidate’s answer was true. The Kannawidan Festival plays a role in promoting Ilocano traditions and providing livelihood opportunities. It highlights the works of its people - including their crafts, wavery, and delicacies. Tourists visiting the festival not only appreciate Ilocos Sur’s rich history but also support small businesses, artisans, and farmers.
